32

Yes, I actually published how old I am. My kids keep asking (over and over again) And it made me acutely aware that I remember when my Mom turned 30... something.

This last Christmas we gave the kids a choice between having Santa come, or going to a condo in Elk Meadows (like we did in the Fall). It took them a few days to decide but finally choose to go to the condo. We went up on Christmas Eve and stayed 3 nights. I can't tell you how must stuff we had in the back of the truck. We had the BEST time.

We sledded and snowmobiled, we made cookies and ate tons of snacks, drank Hot Cocoa with snowman shaped marshmallows.

Grandma and Grandpa came up to have Christmas Dinner. They went sledding with us and Grandma fell into some deep snow and got stuck! The kids never missed Santa and decided that we should do something like this every other year.

Tushar Mtns

It has really been awhile since I have posted anything. The summer has been busy, though nothing in particular stands out. Now that school has started we have finally decided to take these next weekends and devote them (mostly) to a few things that we've been wanting to do all summer but just couldn't for one reason or another.

So, in that spirit here are a few pictures from our weekend spent up at Elk Meadows in a condo we rented on the cheep. We took the jeeps out for a ride and found a few places that take your breath away because they're so high up and incredibly beautiful.

We'll be going back in a few weeks to see the leaves change into their Autumn colors and I can hardly wait. I really hope it won't snow between now and then because that would make the "roads" impossible to traverse.

Cherries Jubilee

Yes, that dessert is flaming!!!

My Friend Laura came to our house from Richfield for Conference weekend and while we were planning what we wanted to do, it came up that she had always wanted to set a dessert on fire. One of three desserts, Cherries Jubilee was our final choice. So we wrote out our list got the kids in the car and headed for the store. Now for anyone that doesn't know, for a dessert to flame, you have to have alcohol, and for anyone who is not from Utah, to get alcohol, you have to go to the state liquor store. So off we head to the State Liquor Store with all our kids in tow. I was too much of a chicken to go in, so I stayed out in the car with our kids while she set into the store, came back 10 min later with a small bottle of "very smooth" brandy in hand.
Then we head off to Wal-mart for the rest of the ingredients and then home to make dinner, munchies, and of course - the cherries jubilee. We finally got though dinner and Laura began. As you can see we were well prepared with the fire extinguisher in the background. I decided to be the official photographer and taste-tester.

We lit it and the kids all ooed and ahhed. Then we tried to light it again (just to be sure) and served it over ice cream. It was really tasty, but none of the kids seemed too interested in trying it - I guess fire and ice cream don't mix.

'Rissa's Birthday

We Celebrated Carissa's 1st birthday last Saturday. She's a cute little stink. She didn't really get to into the cake, her prissy side won out. She didn't even get it in her hair. Speaking of hair, when we pull hers up into pigtails she looks just like Boo from "Monster's Inc."

So it has been awhile since last I wrote. We had our first experience with cub scout pinewood derby, boy THAT was FUN... well sortof. No, it really wasn't too bad. The ward was very organized and had borrowed some pretty high tech equipment from the college here so there wasn't a whole lot arguing or problems Cameron's car ran pretty well, he won a few heats and even Conner's car, our learning curve, ran pretty fast.

Nate got Married!!!

Aren't they good lookin'!?!?!?! So, yes, Nate is now married and that is the last of the Butler kids to be wed. The wedding was wonderful - her great-grandpa was their sealer. The reception was great and the luncheon went beautifully!
(Thanks Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!)

So this is Caylie's "Audry Hepurn look" She won't keep her real glasses on but she'll wear her sunglasses everywhere!!! This other picture is the kids playing "here we go 'round the mulberry bush - too bad Conner ruined his good pants tripping on the curb. Oh well - what's a pair of pants right?

Here's the whole clan, we clean up pretty good now and again.

Another Birthday

OK, so it has been awhile since I have updated this, I figured now was a good time. I turned 31 yesterday, it wasn't nearly as traumatic as turning 30 and being pregnant at the same time. It was a pretty quiet day and it was great! My mom and I went to dinner on Saturday, then I hungout with Corey and the kids on Sunday, went to church, then went to my parents for cake and games.

I had to post these pictures of the kids because they made me laugh. 'Rissa giggled so much as the boys pushed her back & forth - they had a ball!
